A ski area to suit the whole family

For the winter season, as soon as the first snow falls, Le Grand Bornand turns into pure paradise for winter sport enthusiasts. With a ski area of 86kms and 29 lifts, the Grand Bornand resort offers a wide choice of downhill skiing for all levels : 4 black, 16 red, 13 blue and 16 green runs. The best known at “Grand Bo” is Denivel’Maxx, from the top of Mont Lachat down to the village with a descent is over 1100m. You could also use your winter break in Haute Savoie to try out other locations in the Aravis area : la Clusaz, Manigod, and St Jean de Sixt ,which are close by, all have runs. With138 groomed runs, and over 210kms overall provide a veritable skiers’ playground, where beginners or experienced skiers will all feel quite at home. For real thrills Le Grand Bornand’s freestyle space is the place for wild adventures. The snowparkGB, in the Maroly valley, enchants all with its big airbag, boarder cross and many other features. Whether for a weekend or the whole week, Le Grand Bornand provides sport on every level, so that all members of the family can enjoy the slopes.

Outdoor activities and events

If you prefer to spend your time in the mountains in a more leisurely way the Grand Bornand offers you a large cross-country ski area. At the edge of the village, the Bouchet and the Chinaillon valleys have 14 circuits of different lengths tempting afficionados of cross-country skiing to experience 80kms of trails through alpine fields and amongst spruce trees. For non-skiers, at your own pace and on snowshoes, you can also enjoy cross country routes and admire the towering Aravis mountains. Many other outdoor activities await you during your stay in Le Grand Bornand. . . luge, fatbikes, veloskis, biathlon, guided tours of frozen waterfalls. . . tire yourself out before the pleasure of our relaxing spa and well-being space in our hotel La Croix St Maurice located in the middle of the village.

Events

At the end of March, every year, Le Grand Bornand hosts the biggest charity event in the French mountain calendar. For ten years or so, Glisse en Coeur has brought together sportspeople and artists, for one weekend, to fundraise for various charities. The programme includes galas, charity concerts by the slopes, 24 hours of skiing in relay teams and many other entertainments which you can attend during your family holiday here. It displays the village’s community spirit and creates opportunities for you to socialise during your stay here in Le Grand Bornand.
